hi,

while attempt to fix my water plugin I saw that the reflection will
always be bad with 'portals hack' - the clipped area on the
reflection is just filled with some colour - which affects badly
result picture (you will see blots of this colour on the water
  surface).

Currently I don't see any possible resolution with portals (well I
can cheat a bit and try to fill the clipped area with some reasonable
colour, but I would like to do it only in great desperation :)).

  The point:
What is really needed here is support for near planes. I saw several
methods in iGraphics3d that look related (SetNearPlane (const csPlane3 &pl)),
but from what I remember I was told that they won't work as I
  expected.
  What they are used for?
Would it be possible to use this functions and handle them *right* at last
in opengl renderer (i.e via glClipPlane or something)?

BTW. There was some talk yesterday on irc about fbo. How it was
  ended?
