Some things could be kept up to date using MediaWiki mechanisms such as 
templates: e.g. the latest version number, blocks for downloading them - 
  I think they can be crafted in a way that upon editing the "main" 
template certain changes are reflected into translations.

But that obviously can't cover everything. I guess what's needed are 
just people watching the changes (e.g. using 
http://crystalspace3d.org/mediawiki/index.php?title=Special:Recentchanges&feed=atom)
 
and updating translations now and then (but hopefully more frequently 
than now).
