Will we see you at this Fridays' CSI Elevator Cafe?

Looks like being a really interesting one, with a good mix of practice
presentations and information sessions -- all still just five minutes
each. Same time and place as usual -- the Canterbury Innovation Incubator
(200 Armagh St), Friday July 4, from 5pm, with the BBQ to follow (BYO).

The line-up for this month's cafe:

Peter Gallagher, from Gallagher Business Systems, is going to be asking
for feedback on which of his three short elevator statements gets the best
message across about his new mid-range Financial and Distribution
Information System. (Be gentle, but don't hold back!)

Julian Stone will be introducing a new Web-based workflow and
jobmanagement software product called ProWorkflow (www.proworkflow.com),
designed for small-mediumbusinesses.

Jill Taiaroa, from the CDC, will give us a quick overview of mentoring in
the IT industry and how it can be really helpful.

Ross Brown from Unify, will be tell us about Software House, a new
building in Technology Park.

And if you can't get along to the Cafe and BBQ, you might want to check
out this interesting article:

Demonstration Post-Mortem: Why Vendors Lose Deals
-by Steve McVey

In competing for client dollars, one failing makes demonstrations deadly
for large and small vendors alike: lack of preparation.

The most often asked question following a bad demo is why: Why didn't the
vendor understand our business scenarios? Why did they ask us questions
they should've asked weeks ago during their "preparation?" Why was the
presenter as lost as we were? Why did we have to sit here for eight hours
and waste our time?

(TechEval has a free registration requirement, but their ezine usually has
something worth following up :-)
