We have just become aware of another patent application that will affect
many in NZ, including us. In summary it is an application for a patent on
price and product labels that a retailer might produce where the text and
image on the label comes from a database.

Our Chreos (www.chreos.co.nz) users have been able to do this for a number
of years but we don't have the financial resource to object to the
application. (I assume that there is a cost involved?)

This feels like someone getting a patent for the process of hammering a nail
into a piece of wood ... now there's an idea!

The Abstract/Abridgement from the patent office website says ...
