New Zealanders Annette Dow and Geoff McIntosh co-ordinated the
successful marketing, leading to the eventual multi-million dollar sale,
of Ghost and Mail Marshall in the US.

The Presidents of Binary Research International (BRI), Annette Dow and Geoff McIntosh
- who worked with Murray Haszard to negotiate the US$28 million sale of Ghost to
Symantec, will this month be sharing some of their US export knowledge and experience
with Software Developers at Q & A Forums to be held in Christchurch, Wellington and
Auckland.

While New Zealand has many talented Software Developers, their core competence lies in
writing code and they often have limited resources to take their product to market. No
matter how good their software is, for a Developer trying to break into the US market
with their product, it is extremely difficult. Most do not know where to start.

This is not just because of the distance factor, but also the lack of recognition
within the States, limited credibility or track record, lack of interest by the large
Distribution companies, lack of professional supporting documentation and the sheer
enormity of the market.

During the forums, Annette and Geoff* will advise how to successfully target the US
market and of what pitfalls to be aware. Discussions will cover issues from the US
work ethic and business culture, issues in setting up companies in the US, some
strategies for getting your product noticed within the US market and even getting
people to understand the Kiwi accent! (*Geoff is accompanying Annette in Auckland
only.)
