IT OPTIMISM: Almost 80 percent of South Island IT managers expect
to hire more staff over the next six months, according to a
TMP/Hudson nationwide survey. Confidence is strongest in the South
Island, where a net 78.3% of IT companies expect to add staff.  New

Lambton Quay, thanks to moves by Wellington-based organisations
Citylink and MediaLab South Pacific. The continuous stretch of
wireless access has been christened Wellingtons Hot Zone and is
claimed to be the first such zone created on a citys
highest-traffic street anywhere in the world. The project was
financed with the help of a $90,000 grant from Wellington City
Council.

GLOBALTECH GAIN: Database software developed by CSI member company
GlobalTech Solutions is helping drive the Christchurch Methodist
Missions ChildWise programme. The EzCare system provides
comprehensive day-to-day management and reporting functions
developed specifically for the not-for-profit sector. ChildWise
targets children under 13 for home-based social work programmes,
child counselling services and group education services. GlobalTech
is pitching EzCare at other not-for-profit organisations.

company MYOB has won PC World magazine Readers Choice Award in its
category for the ninth year in a row. MYOB New Zealand has 65 staff
in product development and design, training and support services,
marketing and administration. Annual turnover is around $12
million, a figure that has doubled since 2000.  MYOBs head office
and call centre is in Christchurch with sales and training centres
in Wellington and Auckland. The MYOB Group is owned by MYOB Ltd,
listed on the Australian Stock  Exchange.

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT AGREEMENT
This is a checklist of issues that a Research and Development
Agreement would normally cover.  It would be desirable for the
