Well, with solution #1, one doesn?t have to replace anything. I?m currently
doing a build for gcc 4.7 which will have higher version tags for libc++ so if
it comes down to sharing these and letting some of you guys host the files,
then you?d just put the additional libs in a directory and do export
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/yourlibrarypath in your startup script, .bash_profile if you
create server specific accounts.
I can probably host these, but I don?t do docs if it?s a free thing
On the other hand, I?d personally much rather rpm my way out of this ? the
problem is that the rpms reflect the bundling of all the various libs into the
gcc main build ? they used to be separate things gcc versus glibc verus libc++
etc ? and they don?t have to be interdependent but they are. There ought to be
a way to hack around this though because all that?s really needed is a
directory with the right sets of shared object libs and LD_LIBRARY_PATH set to
include the library and it should just work.
The Valve guys are a bunch of Microsofties so we?re probably on our own for
this.
I have the same problem. Any solutions not composed by file replacements ?
