Let's make it simple: GO launched with some inexcusable issues both on the server and, that is the real problem, on the client side. There are still a lot of ridiculously obvious problems on both ends. I really hoped for GO to be the big shot for CS but I feel like it should have gotten a couple of additional months in beta.
I know Valve are fixing stuff as fast as they can and I appreciate that but it's the first impression that sticks. And while I've had to put up with quite a lot being a 1.6 and especially TF2 server hoster, GO was insanely frustrating for us since the beginning. That was no real problem in beta but there were a ton of problems even with the last huge patch that would make it into the final release. GO would be a prime example on why I have absolutely no problem with Valve delaying most of their projects. This is what should not have happened. This is a personal opinion.
