I’ve no idea why it does not work (while it seemingly works in your simplified 
example).

But I’m curious: why did you go the route of an SVG embedded in the HTMl rather 
than adding the polygon directly to the CSS ? The latter has much better 
support - although still no go in Edge / IE 11.
