Did you fix the problem?
Thanks for replying, Zoe. It was my first post to this list and I don't anyone on the list, so I figured I might have missed some nuance in the protocol. I still have the problem with FireFox 1.5 on two different client machines. In the current blog entry, I positioned the screenshot so that on my system the printing issue occured at the top of the screenshot included. That way no text was dropped. So if you could, it would be great if you would check your print preview and see if the entire screen shot is really there, or check the "Is Codd Dead" blog and see if you see the dropped text. I suspect the problem is still there in FF for you, but let me know if it isn't. > If > so, would you share with the list? I did some research yesterday, trying to get it fixed for my next blog entry and I at least have something I'm going to test. I'm thinking I should move the class with the clear: both; in it into a stylesheet that is for the screen only and not for the printed version. At least I have something to test. I was running stuck. I'll let the list know whether I get it working or not. > I would strongly suggest that you create a print style sheet that > removes the second column entirely. I considered that. However, the second column has the list of all previous blogs, so I didn't want to drop it completely. I thought about trying to figure out how to put it all at the end of the first column in the printed version. I'm guessing I could do that, but it might be harder to maintain, so I didn't want to try that yet. > Layouts are best converted into > single columns when you print, and besides, you don't need any of the > stuff in that column on a piece of paper -- all it is is links to old > posts and Google ads. I think the prior blog list is important. If I were a reader and for some reason wanted a printout of what I was seeing on the web page, I might be irked if the content I was trying to print didn't show up. So I didn't want to decide what the reader was printing, but do agree that it is likely folks would only want the first column. > Just make that div display: none in your print > sheet and adjust the margins/width of the remaining column accordingly. If the clear:both removal doesn't work, then I might go that route. Thanks a bunch for replying--much appreciated. Cheers! --dawn > Zoe > > -- > Zoe M.
