We usually don't see such a drop as a problem when it happens on windows
narrower than 600, but since IE's problem with auto-expansion depends on
content - long words and such, it is quite normal to guard against it.
Simplest solution, add:
#sidebar,#content {overflow-x: hidden;}
...but you will then loose some over the edges on really narrow windows.
