Have you checked MaxDesign's Listamatic (http://css.maxdesign.com.au/) or Stu's CSSplay (http://www.cssplay.co.uk/)? Both are excellent sites that provide templates for building menus and other fancy stuff with CSS. Great resources with tutorials and info for beginners (like you and me!)--I've spent hours at both sites playing around with the templates and learning about how CSS works.
