Ahh, now I see the problem. It isn't actually doing what I thought it was. I
had mistakenly thought that the columns were all going to be the length of
longest.

Not sure what you mean bout removing the clearfix. Is in the above page (the
tutorial page with color added that's all.

Now all I need to do is make right hand column stretch to length of centre.
