http://www.quirksmode.org/css/quirksmode.html - read up on it. Basically 
you need to declare a doctype, at which point both browsers will attempt 
to render your page in a somewhat standardized manner. There will still 
be independent browser issues, but declaring a doctype and validating 
your code: http://www.w3.org/QA/Tools/ should move you a long way from 
where you are now.
