And another test with toggling. To check do the following.

1. Close any instance of IE8.
2. Open this page up in IE8.

<http://css-class.com/test/ie8hack-XUA-IE7.htm>

You will see blue, blue, green, green and then red. Selecting the normal test
page you will see red, red, orange, orange and the blue. Toggling into IE7
Strict mode will show blue, blue, green, green and then red in both the normal
test and the XUA=IE7 test. This all changes when you do either.

1. Toggling into IE8 Standard mode.
2. Selecting the XUA=IE8 test.

Now any test page will show all the same in any mode. In IE8 standard mode, all
test pages now show red, red, orange, orange and the blue and toggling into IE7
strict mode will show all test pages blue, blue, green, green and then red.

This means that most test that has been done so far by will now have to be
re-checked because once you start to toggle or use the X-UA "IE=8" in any
series of test, then the whole whatever get corrupted. So simply put once you
enter a page in toggle IE8 standard mode or X-UA "IE=8" then entering any other
test page for X-UA "IE=7" or re-toggling into IE7 strict is corrupted.

Does this sound like meta mode madness. :-)
