Well - drat.  :-(  I thought I had finally gotten a handle on the
nitpicky things.  Guess not.  :-)

I added the rules below to try and get maroon breadcrumbs bar to scale
with large text.  After upscaling the text about 3 sizes, the crumbs
start to disappear into the tan content area.  I was so focused on the
maroon bar sizing itself and extending to the right and left viewport
edge I didn't even notice the horizontal scrollbars.

I've taken those rules back out, but left the bottom padding in -
needed for IE to show the border on the hover state.
