Too many corrections to list them all. See corrected markup (valid) and corrected CSS (valid). IE 6/7/8 now on-board (sort of). Cursory checked in Chrome, Safari, Opera, and Firefox. Name of the game is keep it simple. You were feeding confusing and different positioning schemes that confused browsers.
