IE7- does not have :active state. <http://css-class.com/test/css/selectors/pseudo-class-active-focus.htm> This test shows the problem that WebKit has with :focus when selecting a link with the mouse. Tabbing works. The reverse is true with :active. The test shows that WebKit does not show :active when tabbing. Selecting a link with the mouse works. -- Alan http://css-class.com/ Armies Cannot Stop An Idea Whose Time Has Come. - Victor Hugo For what it's worth, I seem to have resolved this issue (mostly) by adding tabindex to the <a>'s. It now works as intended in Firefox, Chrome, Safari, and Opera. IE7 is weird. "As intended" means that when the user hovers over a thumb, the corresponding large image appears, and when the mouse leaves the thumb to a non-thumb area of the screen, the default space/text returns. When a user clicks a thumb, that large image remains even when the mouse leaves to a non-thumb area. If a user clicks a thumb (1) and then hovers another thumb (2), the new thumb (2) appears, but thumb (1) returns when the mouse leaves to a non-thumb area. IE7 appears to contradict itself. It accepts the :focus (as indicated by the dotted outline) and allows tabbing through the images (as indicated by the moving dotted outline "Watch it move! Tee hee hee."), but it refuses to show my precious image. Unfortunately, a new issue has reared its head, so I have not uploaded the new working files, but I'd love to hear thoughts from anyone willing to add a few tabindexes on their own. I will start a new thread for the new issue. Thanks to everyone who weighed in.
