Does anybody know why the media queries do not work? Or if the support for
target-densitydpi=device-dpi has been dropped?
Best regards

The gentlepeople at Opera deal in concepts. In a real world situation
-- where the width must be set for desktop, laptop, tablet, and mobile
-- a 480 media query is a necessary addition that is needed to make it
happen... regardless of whatever meta tag thingy you use.
Please see:

and view source of both pages.
Checked in the latest stable versions of Android/2.2.2, Opera Mobile,
and OperaMini.

Thanks a lot again for the effort made in trying to help me. Right now I
am pondering about:
Are my Opera settings somehow wrong? The zoom is explicitely set to
100%, but maybe there is something else I overlooked. The problem occurs
in both Opera Mobile versions I have got.
First of all: On my smartphone your pages didn't display as expected, I
guess my browsers have a problem with the article element.
So I copied your pages and exchanged the article element with a div
id="article" (please see http://nihao.k-risc.de/ck/ck1.html)
Furthermore, I made screenshots of all browsers:
http://nihao.k-risc.de/ck/screenshots.html
In IE the div#article seems to have the disired width. But in both
versions of the Opera browser the div#article is about twice as wide. In
the older version you can see that the white border of the div#c (having
width:98%;) fits into the viewport. In version 10 it doesn't. This
applies to ck1 and ck2, so the additional "target-densitydpi=device-dpi"
doesn't seem to have any effect. I made an additional screenshot of the
right part of the page where one can see where the border of the div#c
ends, and also the extend of the div#article.
Could it be some dependency bwetween hardware, operating system and
browser software?
This is all very interesting and puzzling at the same time. Any more
input on this would be greatly appreciated.
Best regards
Christian
