Unfortunately, if you expect your font to be visible on multiple
browsers, yes, you do need the multiple types, because not all browsers
support all technologies, and some browsers support different
technologies in different versions. There are several on-line @font-face
generators, which will take a font in a standard format and generate the
other formats, plus the CSS code. For a quick overview of which browsers
support which technologies, see https://everythingfonts.com/font-face
and click on the "browser compatibility" tab.
