        There is *never* a *must*. Using @font-face is an option among
        many (including not declaring any font-family.

            How do I find what fonts are pre-installed on most mobile
            / tablet / desktops ?


        Have you tried $search_engine_of_your_choice? Sometimes that
        is useful technology.
        “font-list iOS”, “installed fonts Android”, etc, and any
        variation thereof.
