As a result of the closing of cTAKES-24, there was an offline question of whether we will have just one jar -- icTAKES.jar -- in cTAKES 2.6, and also about maven. Moving the discussion here:
My understanding was that the move to Apache's SVN was a big enough change that we would wait to do the maven work until some following release (after 2.6) Regarding icTAKES.jar, the result of the vote we had months ago (before coming to Apache) was option F. '(F) Variation of "(C) Hybrid 1", but with separate jars rather than one big jar' http://informatics.mayo.edu/sharp/index.php/SDG_hybrid_proposal One complication is that when I built 2.5, it had been some time since the vote had been done, and I misinterpreted my own email about the vote result to mean "one big jar with smaller jars for new extensions". The only new component for that release was Assertion, which is a core component, and so there were no 'new extensions' eligible to be new 'smaller jars', given my interpretation of the email. And also unfortunately due to the focus on verifying function etc, the fact only a single jar had been built was overloooked when the 2.5 beta was released (and when the final 2.5 was released) The email I had misinterpreted when I built 2.5 was my email of Mon 1/30/2012 12:05 AM, which had said > Choice F was: > All 'core' components integrated; but optional > extensions could be plugged-in separately > but with separate jars rather than one big jar > > F/C were the definite favored pair. And there were > suggestions to include both the individual jars and one big jar Regards, James Masanz > -----Original Message----- > From: ctakes-dev-return-295- > [email protected] [mailto:ctakes-dev-return- > [email protected]] On Behalf Of Pei > Chen (JIRA) > Sent: Thursday, August 23, 2012 12:40 PM > To: [email protected] > Subject: [jira] [Closed] (CTAKES-34) icTAKES.jar is missing from the .gz > distributions > > > [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CTAKES- > 34?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:all-tabpanel ] > > Pei Chen closed CTAKES-34. > -------------------------- > > Resolution: Won't Fix > Fix Version/s: 2.6-incubating > Assignee: Pei Chen > > icTAKES.jar is no longer applicable.
