I tried Eclipse and NetBeans. As it happens NetBeans slots into my particular style of programming much easier than Eclipse. I do most of my development work in Visual C++ and Delphi and the NetBeans IDE feels a lot more familiar to me than Eclipse. As for NetBeans not being around in the future I really doubt it. The Sun Java Studio Creator looks a lot like NetBeans doesn't it ?   Try both, stick with the one you like. It works for anything!   My two cents worth.
