EBSCO Databases Training

Academic and public library staff and their patrons enjoy free access to a
variety of online databases
through the TexShare program sponsored by the Texas State Library and
Archives Commission. EBSCO
Publishing is a leading producer of electronic databases for academic
libraries, medical libraries, public
libraries, schools, and corporations worldwide. EBSCO provides a
comprehensive collection of full-text
databases and has been in the business of providing superior content
combined with user-friendly systems
for many years. Some of the leading EBSCO databases provided through
TexShare include: MEDLINE,
Business Wire News, Computer Source: Consumer Edition, ERIC, Academic Search
Premier, Newspaper
Source, Applied Science & Technology Abstracts and the Psychology &
Behavioral Collection. Many
additional databases are also available from EBSCO through the TexShare
program.

*NOTE: Two types of training sessions will be offered:

     GENERAL TRAINING SESSIONS
Will include a two-hour overview of the EBSCO databases available
through TexShare, as well
as specific search tips and strategies for using the databases.

     ADMINISTRATOR TRAINING SESSIONS
Are geared towards library staff who gather statistics, modify search
tools, choose print
options, and select local holdings information from patron
workstations. This session will also
include instruction on controlling the availability of full text,
locally held magazines, and other
on-screen preferences. The two-hour administrator training session will
be held immediately
after the morning session at each location.

THIS IS A HANDS-ON/DEMONSTRATION WORKSHOP

Some of the training sessions will be held in computer labs with
limited seating (the schedule
below indicates which sites are labs). Since seating is limited at
these sites, early
     registration is strongly encouraged.

library users

customizing workstations
