Dear EBSCOhost Customers:
It has come to our attention that many of you are not aware that, if you choose, your users can link directly from a citation in an EBSCOhost database to the document delivery service, Infotrieve. This service is made available via EBSCOadmin, so each library can decide on its own if this is an appropriate service to offer to its end users. Once activated, this functionality works similarly to other EBSCO ILS Links. However, the only time a link to Infotrieve would appear (allowing a user to purchase an individual full text article) is when all other options for full text have been exhausted. In other words, the system will look for full text in EBSCOhost databases, e-journal collections and other local holdings prior to alerting a user to the fact that an article can be purchased via Infotrieve. In addition to the seamless link to Infotrieve, EBSCOhost also offers similar links to CISTI and British Library as well a several ILL options, giving the library choices for handling patron initiated borrowing or purchasing. Similarly, EBSCOhost offers links to EBSCO Book Services - directly from appropriate records in EBSCOhost. For those that are not familiar with this service, it is similar to Amazon.com, and offers a variety of books for users to purchase on an individual basis. Its availability can also be controlled by library administrators (via EBSCOadmin) who can decide whether or not this service is appropriate for their users, and consequently made available to them. Links to EBSCO Book Services will typically come from within a book review or another reference to a book within an EBSCOhost database. If you have any questions regarding these services or any other matter, as always, please feel free to contact your EBSCO representative and/or our support staff. Thank You.
