I received a flyer in the mail from the Holy Quran Publishing Project. They are offering a copy of the Quran, translation and commentary for $30 with free S&H for a limited time. email:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

I thought this info might be helpful to many of you. This morning, one of our librarians asked me about buying a version of the Koran. If you don't have one, you probably should. There may be people in your service area who are Moslem, and they probably have their own Koran at home. Having one at the library, or two (one in circ and one in reference) is a good idea. There are many translations. You might want a parallel English & Arabic version, or just an English one. Bindings vary also, and just as I don't think a gilt-edged leather bound Bible is the best one for a library, neither is such a fancy Koran. Save your money & get a hardback for ref & a paperback for circ. Order from a reliable vendor. Baker & Taylor and Ingram both stock versions of the Koran. The Dewey call number is 297.1. Please call or e-mail me if you have further questions about this or other collection development issues. Laurie Laurie Mahaffey, Adult Services Consultant Central Texas Library System P. O.
