If you are in the Austin area, stop by the Austin History Center to view a great exhibit of puppets. Go to http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/library/news/nr20011023.htm for the press release. The exhibit, entitled PUPPETS!: From Sock Figures to Sicilian Marionettes, features hand-carved wooden marionettes from master puppeteer Don Harms, some amazing puppets from Nancy Renfro Studios and the Hand-To-Mouth Puppet Theatre, two 4-foot marionettes from the Stanley Marcus Collection of the Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center, and a wonderful collection of figures from puppet shows of the Austin Public Library. Something every youth services person will enjoy!
