This message is from Christine McNew at the Texas State Library and Archives Commission... Dear All, I am very happy to announce that you may now listen to this year's Texas Reading Club theme songs by Willy Welch and Sally Meyers on the Texas State Library web site. Playing Right Music has granted permission to the Texas State Library to reproduce "Reading Across Texas" on our web site. They have also granted permission solely to Texas public libraries to download "Reading Across Texas" to play for non-profit purposes in their libraries. Sally Meyers has also granted permission for the Texas State Library to reproduce "Read Across Texas!" on our web site and for Texas public libraries to download and play it for non-profit purposes. To hear the songs, visit the online Texas Reading Club manual at http://www.tsl.state.tx.us/ld/projects/trc/2002/manual/intro/themesongs. html . "Real Player" is required to listen to the audio files. It is available for free from www.real.com. Willy Welch's song, "Reading Across Texas" is also available on his new CD, "I Won't Eat That! Snappy Tunes for Kids of All Ages," and it is wonderful! You'll find ordering information on his web site at www.willywelch.com. Those of you who saw him at TLA know how much fun his performances are. He presented a preconference and he performed at the Texas Reading Club manual program. And, he is available to perform in libraries! Sally Meyer's song, "Read Across Texas!" is to the tune of "Pick a Bale of Cotton" and is also wonderful. They'll both be great to use year after year!
