During storytime they may also hold the baby, if the sibling is a baby. Our participants are from birth to age 4-with 2 yr. olds who are something else! Our library is so tiny, our adult patrons know that for one hour Thursday morning we have this time with the little people. Most everyone stops by to take a peek. We have found lapsit time to be a great early listening experience (they are read to-but a very short board or picture book, it's the rhythm of the voice, just like reading at home), and the children who have attended since they were very tiny tend to develop longer attention spans, and to interact better with the other children. We may not have the numbers that others of you have to deal with. I have to say, my background as a reading specialist says "Go for It!"
