Subject: LSTA update

Both the House and the Senate have now introduced their versions of the
LSTA reauthorization bill: it's H.R. 13 in the House and
S. 238 in the senate. The bills are almost identical to those
introduced
last year, except that the House version has lowered the authorization
level to $210 million and "such sums" as are necessary in the following
years. The bill title is the "Museum and Library Services Act of 2003."

We need co-sponsors immediately.

IN THE SENATE: Please call your Senators and ask them to sign on to S.
238. The contact for them to sign on is Elyse Wasch, staff to Senator
Jack
Reed at (202) 224-4642. There are currently 19 co-sponsors; that list
-
as well as the list of those who co-sponsored the 2002 bill, since
they're
most likely to sign on again - is attached. (see below)

IN THE HOUSE: Please call your Representatives and ask them to sign on
to
H.R. 13. The contact for them to sign on is Rebecca Hunt, staff to
Congressman Hoekstra at (202) 225-4401. There are currently 38
co-sponsors
and, again, that list and the list of 2002 co-sponsors is also attached.
