First Annual Somerfest Can Benefit Libraries The first annual Somerfest will be held Saturday, August 16, 2003, from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m., at Welch Park located on Lake Somerville in Somerville, Texas. Libraries from across the state are invited to host a booth to tell the story of their library as well as sell products to raise funds. There is no fee for a10 feet by 20 feet booth with electricity. Each participating library will be given four complimentary admission tickets to Somerfest. Libraries are also invited to participate in Welch Park Day on Sunday, August 17, 2003.
Gulf States Amusement Company will be bringing several rides and there will be games, contests, raffles, and displays that will entertain all ages. A variety of bands will be playing all types of music throughout the day.
The Somerfest Committee and Sierra Spring Water Company are sponsoring the community event to help establish a library in Somerville. The admission fee is $3.00 per adult and $2.00 per child. Camping spaces at Welch Park are $8.00 for tents and $20.00 for RV camping. RV spaces must be reserved by calling 979-596-2286.
