On Oct. 28th I sent an email listing download details for importing the
NetLibrary records into your automated card catalogues. This was the
information I sent:

#1 the original set of MARC records is numbered:
D020530.B0004241 it contains 18,254 records split into 2 sets.
a)Set name: NetLibrary-Texshare
  Contains: 17,496 records
b)Set name: NetLibrary-Texshare -04/16/2002
  Contains: 758 records

#2 the next set of MARC records is numbered:
D030617.B0007673
Set Name: NetLibrary-TexShare Fall 2002(NETEX)
Contains: 4,594 records

#3 the most recent set of MARC records is numbered:
D031011.B0008881
Set Name: NetLibrary-TexShare Fall 2003(TSLAC)
Contains: 1664 records

Set names with details can be found here:
http://www.stats.oclc.org/cgi-bin/db2www/wcs/wcs_cols.d2w/Electronic

Since then though, I have found out that:
Set #1
)a)Set name: NetLibrary-Texshare
  Contains: 17,496 records
b)Set name: NetLibrary-Texshare -04/16/2002
  Contains: 758 records

is actually: D010825.B0002556 NOT the D020530.B0004241 I cited in #1. Below
this are 18 sets, all except #18 having 1,000 records each, with Set18
having the last 496. These are breakouts of D010825.B0002556 if one wants
to download in smaller sets.

Sorry for the confusion.

Everyone who would wishes to download these records needs to fill out a
request form which can be found here:
http://www.tsl.state.tx.us/texshare/marc.html

There are several reasons why it is important for you to use this form:

a) We report statistics on who requests instructions on how to download the
records to Amigos, our strategic partner in supplying TexShare with the MARC
records.

b) I get lots and lots of emails each day, it would be easy for me to
perhaps skip one from a library telling me they are planning on downloading
the records.

c) Using the form makes Dave's life so much easier. (Dave Hardy is our
Administrative Assistant who actually tallies all of our stats) By using the
form he is supplied with all of the information he needs for our records and
Amigos. Also by using the form the information arrives in a form he can
easily convert to the raw data he needs for his spreadsheets

d) Consistency.....which is really part of reason b) above, Dave can easily
keep track of all the requests we receive for MARC records if everyone in
TexShare uses the form.

I hope this answers some of your questions about the MARC records. Happy
cataloguing!
