The 1920 U.S. Federal Census head-of-household name index has been
completed. On April 29, four states were added to the index: North
Dakota, Oregon, Oklahoma and
Wisconsin. On May 18, the remaining
eight states and territories were added: Alaska, Guam, Hawaii, Military, Panama
Canal, Puerto Rico, Virgin
Islands, and Wyoming.
WHAT'S ONLINE TODAY?
HeritageQuest Online now includes:
- The complete U.S. Federal Census page images for
all decades 1790-1930.
- The complete U.S. Federal Census name indexes for
1790-1820, 1860-1870, and 1890-1920.
- A partial U.S. Federal Census name index for
1930. The states currently available include CT, DE, MD, TX and VA.
- Over 20,000 separate family and local history
works, including 7,922 family histories, 12,035 local histories, and
258 primary sources.
- The PERiodical Source Index (PERSI) with more
than 1.6 million article citations from over 6,500 genealogical and

"Behind the Genealogy Reference Desk: Back to Basics." It will be

4:30 p.m. in Orlando, FL. The
History Section of the Reference and User Services Association, a division
of the American Library Association (ALA), presents this preconference
during ALA's Annual Conference.
