Twenty-four additional Element K licenses have become available for any public library employee who wishes to take online software training from this resource. The State Library is paying for the training. In the interests of getting these licenses into use, I am dropping the one-license-per-library requirement for this batch. Licenses will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. What you can get: 13 desktop productivity licenses are available. Each license provides access for one person to over 44 software applications like Microsoft Office programs, Acrobat, Crystal Reports, FrontPage, Groupwise, Netmeeting, and other basic office software as well as basic PC troubleshooting tips through September 29, 2004. 11 design & media licenses are available. Each license provides access for one person to over 38 software applications like Adobe graphics programs, CorelDraw, DreamWeaver, QuarkExpress, and also web design principles through September 29, 2004. Technical requirements are available at http://www.tsl.state.tx.us/ld/workshops/gatestrain/elementk/index.html If you want to take advantage of this online training opportunity, please email me with the following information: Full name City Zip code Library name Phone number Do you have a Masters Degree in Library Science? Are you in a managerial position? What is your job title? I will send you a user name and password for the Executrain Virtual Campus, located at <http://virtualcampus.executrain.com/> Whenever you wish to take a class online, log into the Executrain Virtual Campus and register for a course from the course catalog. Classes may be taken at any time from any internet computer, and you can take as many courses as desired from your assigned suite of courses. Most classes take between 2 and 8 hours to finish, depending on complexity of the software - you can stop and start on any course at any time without having to start over.
