Here is a recent email from Christine McNew reminding Texas librarians to
fill out the summer reading progam evaluation and to order materials for
2005.

Amanda at CTLS

Dear Children's Librarians,

I hope that all of your reading clubs were successful and enjoyable! The
2004 Evaluation Forms and 2005 Order Forms were mailed to participating
libraries in late August. The forms are also available on the Texas State
Library web site. Please either send us print forms or complete them
online.

The Evaluation Form is at
http://www.tsl.state.tx.us/ld/projects/trc/forms/eval.html. It is very
important that you complete the Evaluation Form. We need to know the number
of children that participated in your program. Nearly 500,000 children
participate each year, and this information is used to justify the funds we
spend on this program. If you do not answer anything else, please complete
the evaluation form and insert that number.

Please order supplies for the 2005 Texas Reading Club NOW! The 2005 theme
is "Go Wild...Read!"/ "Vulvete loco por leer!" A list of the materials
available and the Order Form for the 2005 Texas Reading Club supplies is
online at http://www.tsl.state.tx.us/ld/projects/trc/forms/index.html.
Please submit your orders as soon as possible! In November, we must
estimate the number of items that must be reproduced (manuals, posters,
bookmarks, certificates, and reading logs). The 2005 Texas Reading Club
manuals will be mailed in late January, 2005. The artwork will be shipped
in late March, 2005. If you do not receive your supplies within a few weeks
after these shipping dates, please let us know!

The 2005 artist is Michael Austin, illustrator of The Horned Toad Prince by
Jackie M. Hopkins, and many other titles. A few sketches of the artwork for
the 2005 Texas Reading Club are on his web site at
http://www.austinillustration.com/pages/txart.html.

I look forward to hearing about your programs from your evaluation forms!
We love it when you send pictures! If you have any questions, concerns, or
suggestions for the Texas Reading Club, please do not hesitate to contact
me.

Best regards,

Christine McNew
