TO ILL STAFF ON THE CTLS LISTSERV: ILL information packets are in the mail to all area libraries regarding a change in ILL procedures. The ILL office will switch to a new management program, ILLiad in order to automate our statistical program for the Texas State Library. This new program will not change how we send electronic ILL requests through WorldCat. However, in order to integrate with WorldCat and facilitate statistical tracking, area libraries must be registered in the system. To facilitate this requirement, area libraries are pre-registered in ILLiad. The packets contain your user id and password for the ILLiad program. You will enter this new information after you submit your ILL request. At this time the new system is not up and running. Austin is ready to go live but must wait until the State Library has resolved some technical problems. Until then, please read the information in the packets carefully. Keep in mind the following: - There are no changes to how we send electronic requests on WorldCat. - If you do not send electronic requests using WorldCat, you will not use the ILLiad password and user id. Continue sending via fax or phone calls. - If you want to start using our electronic system, began with the Visual Tour steps 1-6. Steps 7-8 will not apply until we go to ILLiad. You may also wait until we are using the new system before you go online. - If you are still using WorldCat and emailing us the request, you may switch the method by just clicking on the ILL button instead of the email button. Thanks to those area libraries who participated in the test on Friday and Monday. I will do more testing in the next week. Some libraries participated in the tests by accident. I apologize for not sending out a warning on the switch. Many of you called or emailed in respect to the change. Everyone took to the change very well. This was a good sign as to how easy it is. At this time, I have turned off the new system and will wait until TSL resolves some technical problems. Once resolved I will go back to some final tests before we go live. I am hoping by the end of November. If you have any questions please call or email me. Thanks to those libraries who notified me after receiving your packets. I will make email changes in your account so you can receive automatic emails once the new system is running. If you library has not received your packet by November 25 contact me. Thanks everyone. You are great! I have been very lucky to serve such a wonderful host of libraries. You have made all of the changes we have been through over the last 6 years a joyful, challenging and irreplaceable experience. I feel blessed.
