TO ILL STAFF ON THE CTLS LISTSERV ILL will conduct another test of the new ILL system on Friday November 19 from 3 PM until 4 PM. If you library wishes to see what the new ILL submit form will look like and just get some hands on practice with the new system, be prepared to login to FirstSearch anytime after 3 PM on Friday. If all goes well I will have Jim Prato at the State Library do another test on Monday if I have interested participants. To participate all you will need to do is logon to FirstSearch and request some titles. It is best to use test titles not real titles. Follow the usual selection process in WorldCat. When you are ready to submit the request, look for the new button. The old buttons will go away and only the new button will remain. Once you click on the new button, you will begin the new system with the ILLiad logon screen as illustrated in your 'Visual Tour of WorldCat' . I will enter all email addresses for those of you who sent me receipt notifications. Once I receive the requests I will then cancel them giving the reason for cancellation as 'test'. If your email is entered in the ILLiad system you should receive a cancellation notification by email. Please verify receipt or non receipt of your email so I can trouble shoot any problems or set up your email in your account. I am also interested in what screen you see after you complete the process. In other words, after you hit the submit request button does the system take you back to the ILLiad menu or does it take you completely out of the ILLiad system. Please let me know what happens after submitting your request. If you remain in the ILLiad system, you are still in your account and can actually access your personal information, phone number address etc. After testing I am open for questions via email at anytime or by phone on Monday. Let me know if you want to test again on Monday. I want everyone to be comfortable with the new system. I think this the last step in a long ongoing process of automating the interlibrary loan process. The Texas State Library and all TexNet centers have worked very hard over the past years to get to this point. Most of all the area libraries are great in their continued support of the ILL program. It is a great service world wide.
