My apologies. We received this from a reliable source, and I did not check it out.

Thanks to Dianne Koehler for pointing out that the link did not work.

this is a bad link. This is what I get when I access the page:

The page you requested is not on our new Web site at this Web address: http://www.ala.org/ala/pio/piopromotions/campaignsave.htm.. The American Library Association has redesigned and reorganized its Web site. Try these steps to find this resource:

1.     Search our site.

Perhaps ALA can fix the link.

Thanks

Two years ago, then ALA President Maurice J. Freedman launched the Campaign

to Save America's Libraries in response to state budget shortfalls and

subsequent library funding cuts that threatened services coast to coast.

Working with a member group, the ALA Public Information Office created a

toolkit to support this effort nationally and in local communities.

The recent announcement that Salinas, California, will close its John

Steinbeck Library and two branches has shown again the need for these tools

and a vigorous national campaign to sustain and grow vital library services.

To this end, the ALA PIO has updated the Save America's Libraries tools -

adding links to the library funding database, the new best practices

database and other resources recently developed.  The downloadable toolkit

PDF will be updated and posted soon.

We wanted to be sure you were aware of these materials and ask your

assistance in getting the word out to members nationwide.  To access the

online tools, please visit
