Unfortunately Denise Carter has had to leave us to move closer to her ailing parents. So, I am once again looking for a Children's Librarian here in Temple. Here is the posting from our City HR Department: Title: Children's Librarian Department: Library Salary: $16.34/hr - $23.99/hr, DOE Work Schedule: Mon. - Fri., 8 am - 5 pm, some evenings and weekends required Job Description: Position involves operation of the children's department; planning and executing programming; developing children's and young adult collections and records and is responsible for the actions and job performance of employees assigned to the children's department. Must possess an ALA/MLS degree or equivalent. Must possess a valid Texas Drivers License. Punctuality and regular attendance are required. Beyond the dry details, I think anyone taking this position would find it a joy. We have a very supportive community and our Friends group is especially interested in the Children's Department. I try to let the Children's Librarian have a lot of free rein in setting the program for that department, so if you'd like to get creative, you might want to consider applying for this position.
