st1\:*{behavior:url(#default#ieooui) } Taylor Public Library
charges $10.00 a year for individuals and $25.00 for a family if you live
outside of the official city limits. But there are exceptions: all students
who go to school in Taylor get a free card (City of Taylor and Taylor ISD have
an interagency agreement). All Temple College at Taylor students get a free
card for the semester (Taylor Library and Temple College have an interagency
agreement). Last year we had 978 out-of-city students get free library cards.
Library services cost the citizens of Taylor about $22 a year for every
individual. We have a lot of rural folks out here in East Williamson County
who purposely live outside of city limits because they dont want to pay taxes.
So, there is some validity to charging for library service.
How many people really are paying for library cards in Taylor? Last year,
280 people. Thats really not a lot of revenue. In total, we have over 7,000
library card holders, so the percentage of paying patrons is not that high.

st1\:*{behavior:url(#default#ieooui) } My City Manager has
asked me to poll other Libraries about charging fees to non residents. Does
your Library have fees for non residents? If you do, why? Also if anyone
wants to add their opinion please do.
