OK, true confession time. After ranting to you all yesterday evening
(shouldn't start projects like that at the end of the day) I figured out
a way to get our system to print out a list of the books purchased with
the Loan Star funds and asked the evening reference folks to search them
as they had time if they were bored. This morning it was on my desk
done! Not the solution for people with smaller staffs, but shows I
probably shouldn't be grinching on my own account...
I appreciate the sympathy though!

Good for you, Judy! Your last question is very pertinent. Too
much paper work for too little money.
We ordered 2 file cabinets with some of our Loan Star money -
the question asked was "how did you promote this purchase?" and I
responded that it was nigh impossible to "promote" 2 file cabinets. It
is such a dumb question.
About the book purchases, have you considered creative
accounting?

OK folks, how are you reporting the number of people
benefiting from your Loan Star purchases? I notice this year they're
asking for number of circs of the items purchased. I can't think of a
good way to do that without individually looking up each title.
I think I'm just cranky because I went directly from the
Annual Report to the Loan Star Libraries Interim Performance report, but
right now I'm thinking--is this really worth it??
