NIDDK Website Features Spanish Health Information

The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases
(NIDDK), National Institutes of Health, has launched three new portals to
feature Spanish health materials and resources on its website. People
looking for information about diabetes, digestive diseases, or kidney and
urologic diseases in Spanish can now go directly to the appropriate
Spanish-language portal page, where they will find an A to Z list of topics
and titles. 

 

Year 02 NN/LM SCR Library Technology Award Announced

Congratulations to Michael Watson, MD, MLS at the Louisiana State University
Health Sciences Center Medical Library, Shreveport LA! The Medical Library
at the LSU Health Sciences Center proposed a technology project with the
dual purpose of improving interlibrary loan services and the library's
digitization/preservation programs.

 

New NN/LM SCR Technology Coordinator Announced

Shikun (KK) Jiang will join the staff of the National Network of Libraries
of Medicine, South Central Region (NN/LM SCR) on Monday, November 5, 2007 as
the Technology Coordinator. Her previous position was as an Oak Ridge
Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) Fellow at the Public Health
Library and Information Center at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and
Prevention, Atlanta GA.

 

HHS Releases New Quick Guide to Health Literacy and Older Adults

As part of Health Literacy month, the U.S. Department of Health and Human
Services released a new health literacy tool for people who serve older
adults. The Quick Guide to Health Literacy and Older Adults is designed to
provide useful strategies and suggestions to professionals who work with

older adults.

 

MCH Library Releases New Knowledge Path about Children and Mental Health
Challenges

NLM Announces New Dietary Supplements Database

The National Library of Medicine has released a new resource focused on
dietary supplements. The Dietary Supplements Labels Database,

labels of over 2,000 brands of dietary supplements in the marketplace,
including vitamins, minerals, herbs or other botanicals, amino acids, and
other specialty supplements.

 

WISER for Smartphones

The WISER (Wireless Information System for Emergency Responders) system is
now supported on Windows Mobile Smartphones, which consist of Windows Mobile
devices that do not have a touch screen. The new WISER for Smartphone
release is functionally equivalent to the Pocket PC version of WISER, and
