Please note that tomorrow, Thursday, November 29, is the date for the first Stepping Up brown bag management lecture. Tommy Darwin, Director, Professional Development and Community Engagement for the Graduate School at UT, will speak from 12:45 to 1:30. The title of Tommy's talk is "Lead From Where You Are: The Practical Art of Making a Difference." This event marks the first in a series of lectures sponsored by Dr. Lynn Westbrook and the eight partner libraries of Stepping Up: Library Leaders for the 21st Century < http://www.ischool.utexas.edu/~stepup >. The lecture is open to the entire Central Texas library community, so spread the word among all the your fellow librarians, paraprofessionals, and lay folks. We will have as our honored guests Dr. Loriene Roy, Professor, UT School of Information and current President of the American Library Association, and Keith Michael Fiels, Executive Director of ALA. Plan to join us in Sanchez 468 < http://www.utexas.edu/maps/main/buildings/szb.html > at 12:30 with your lunch, and plan to stay after Tommy's talk to mingle, ask questions, and maybe receive one of several books we have to give away, thanks to the generosity of our donors: Neal-Schuman, Libraries Unlimited, the University Coop, and John Wiley & Sons. We are also planning a tour of the new Blanton Museum < http://www.blantonmuseum.org/ > that day, starting at 2:00. If you'd like to tour the Blanton courtesy of the iSchool, please email [EMAIL PROTECTED] . For specific information about the lecture, the museum tour, campus lunch spots, and parking, see the Stepping Up website: http://www.ischool.utexas.edu/~stepup . ** Please forgive cross-postings. ** Please redistribute widely within your systems or to other related lists. Thank you, Don Hamerly [EMAIL PROTECTED]
