Subject: question for mailing list

With our new computer system I have been blocking the MySpace site for kids
under 18, due to the rise in online predators. Am I being overcautious?

I am thinking that our kid patrons will probably find another place to log
on if they can't do it at our library, but when the pre-teens and teens are
here and unattended (as they often are) I'd like to think we're providing a
service to the parents who can't always monitor what their kids see on the
internet. Does any of this violate the kids rights to obtain information?

Thank you,

Kellie Gower
