Come early, bring lunch, ask questions, stay late . . . Brown Bag Talk on Mentoring with Dr. Janine Golden of the School of Library and Information Studies at Texas Woman's University Friday, May 2, 2008 from 11:30 to 12:30 in SZB 468<http://www.utexas.edu/maps/main/buildings/szb.html>at the University of Texas at Austin School of Information
A dynamic and reciprocal mentoring relationship is a rewarding relationship, both professionally and personally. However, the process of developing and encouraging mentoring relationships for career development is puzzling at times. Myths and fallacies flourish, because the process involves such a variety of personal meanings, players, processes, administrative involvement (or not), and goals. This session will illustrate the what, why, how, and when of mentoring as well as some suggested best practices. Sponsored by Dr. Lynn Westbrook and the eight partner libraries of Stepping Up: Library Leaders for the 21st Century<http://www.ischool.utexas.edu/%7Estepup>. The talk is free and open to the public, so spread the word.
