J. Frank Dobie was a well-loved UT professor who taught a class called Life
and Literature of the Southwest. His estate funds grants for library
materials to Texas public libraries in communities of 20,000 or fewer. See
the attachment for more information.

 

Many of our libraries have received Dobie grants. The money can be spent
over a 2-year period. If your library received a Dobie grant in the past,
you can re-apply after a few years. Last year, the award was $10,000 per
library. It is best to focus on one area of your collection that needs
improvement.

Attached are the application guidelines for the J. Frank Dobie Library Trust
Awards for 2009.  The guidelines are much the same as in past years.  Please
remember all applications are to be mailed in triplicate.  Single copies or
faxed applications will not be considered.
