Summer Reading is behind us, but many of us are already planning for next year. Several CTLS libraries participated in "Reading with Ringling," a program that promotes the circus and rewards children with free tickets for completing their summer reading. I learned of this program when a patron thanked us for NOT participating. Ringling has long been criticized for noncompliance with the Animal Welfare Act, and an undercover investigation in June revealed handlers beating elephants with bullhooks.
