The PBS series "Faces of America" starts tonight at 7 pm Central time.
The series traces the heritage of Americans with roots in Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Europe. Although the people whose lineage is traced are well-known, one could draw parallels with one's own background. Renowned professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr. put the series together. Yo-Yo Ma, Kristi Namaguchi, Mehmet Oz, Malcolm Gladwell, and Eva Longoria are among those profiled. "Who Do You Think You Are?" is a similar series on NBC that starts Friday, March 5 at 7 pm Central time. Celebrities featured are: Susan Sarandon, Matthew Broderick, Emmitt Smith, Brooke Shields, Spike Lee, and more. WDYTYA was originally done in Britain, and was supposed to air some time ago.
