Our city does that only when the certification is required, e.g., water utility operators. It is almost always tied into the job that must be performed. That said, our city does pay up to $2000 a year for folks to go to school, even if it isn't in their discipline. The thought is that going to school in and of itself can contribute positively to the work environment. ________________________________ From: [email protected] [[email protected]] On Behalf Of Laurie Mahaffey [[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, February 10, 2010 9:12 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [ctls-l] Question about pay increases for educational attainment
Does your library or your city/county have a pay program in place that rewards staff members for educational attainment? Although this is more frequently heard in the academic library world, we’ve received a question from a public librarian asking if anyone’s city/county/library does this. Examples: someone receives their bachelor’s degree & gets a raise. Or, a staffer finishes her master’s degree & gets a pay increase. Thanks.
