Just for a starter--and ender--I believe that most of the Jews in
Germany originally came from farther East--Russia? While they were
successful in the professions, sciences, arts--through a cultural

they were never large landholders or "lords." For all I know, there
might have been a few exceptions, but I believe this to be true. This
may have been due to miedeval laws still on the books which prevented
them from owning land (as in large tracts of agricultural lands). The
Jews were not the cruel Euopean "nobility."
